Duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate must be willing to practice these values on a daily basis while providing one-to-one assistance to individuals with intellectual disabilities, who exhibit on-going severe challenging behaviors that may result in loss of their place of residence and vocational support, or cause injury to self or others. In addition, the individual must be able to:
Conduct observations and implement programming for target clients in accordance with the stages of crisis intervention, including responsible role modeling, motivational interviewing and advocacy
Ability to resolve conflict by balancing the needs of the individual and the agency that is supporting the individual
Apply crisis intervention strategies
Maintain constructive working relationships and open communication internally with coworkers, Crisis Support Coordinator and externally with the individual requiring supports and their core team.
Travel within the Province including multiple days away from home and must be available to do evening and weekend work
Maintain client documentation according to agency standards
Provide supportive assistance for the physical/emotional well-being of clients including personal care for clients
Rehabilitation Worker Certificate, Recreation Therapy Certificate, Special Care Aide and/or related training and work experience
Valid class 5 driver’s licence and working vehicle to use for travel throughout the province and to transport clients when fleet cars are not available.
Must have experience supporting individuals with complex needs
Knowledge of and ability to work with individuals with multiple barriers, disabilities and challenging behaviors
Well developed interpersonal skills along with effective written and verbal communication skills,
Effective time management, organizational skills, and creative solution focused approach to problem solving
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
