INTRODUCTION
The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT Polytechnic) has been a leader in the technical training for 90 years. SAIT presently offers training in 79 diploma and certificate program areas, 26 apprenticeship and pre-employment programs and 4 applied degree programs. To provide innovative leadership and management in the marketing, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of Construction Distance Education training by providing relevant skill oriented education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage Distance Education programs
Provide information to prospective program participants, both individually and through public information sessions
Organize, conduct interviews with, and select program participants
Create and maintain program schedules
Evaluate and order textbooks, materials, and supplies
Participate in the development and maintenance of program budgets
Control and track program revenue and expenditures
Hire, orient, prepare, and evaluate instructors
Liaise with learner support services such as Customer Services, SAIT Bookstore, Finance, Purchasing, and Facilities Management
Liaise with students, monitoring their progress and organizing intervention for students experiencing difficulties
Manage special projects relating to the marketing and promotion of Distance Education programs
Complete reports on the progress of the programs and provide documentation as required
Liaise with service provider partners, and attend meetings and graduation exercises
Offer advice and insight to develop future construction related programs relative to service providers’ needs
Work closely with the other School of Construction Earned Revenue Coordinators to reach previously established earned revenue targets
Represent the department and earned revenue section to establish partnerships both within and outside SAIT to achieve earned revenue goals
Maintain a strong base of industry contact
Maintain a strong knowledge base of courses, programs and resources available at SAIT and the Construction Department
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
Proven communication, team building, and supervisory skills
Either a university degree, a relevant diploma, or relevant management experience
Demonstrated ability to foster successful relationships with clients and industry
Customer relations orientation
Business planning, including financial planning experience: i.e. cost estimating
Proven effectiveness in a coordination role and the ability to manage and develop training programs – an ability to deliver positive results and to be held accountable
Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in a post-secondary or business environment, ideally in a position that encompassed project management and supervision
Ability to conceive and implement courses and programs
Experience in project management and/or site supervision
An understanding of the department’s business and marketing plans
Proven experience in products/service sales
Familiarity with contracts and wages administration
A valid driver’s license
A related technical credential
A valid passport
