INTRODUCTION

SAIT’s Student Services department has an immediate opening for a part- time contract Customer Service Representative. These positions are front line staff who assist clients in-person or on the phone and require a broad understanding of the functions, goals and objectives of the department.
The Customer Service Representative is a polished professional providing outstanding service when handling all aspects of the learner experience in person , mail, online, email, and over the phone. Working within a team-oriented environment, this individual is able to resolve issues involving learner entry, registration, admissions, financial aid, program advising, learner records, and academic tracking from the initial point of contact through to an agreeable solution. A high degree of skill and knowledge are essential characteristics for this position including independent decision making focused accuracy.
NOTE: Shift work (including early mornings and evenings) may be required. Some work on weekends and travel may be required.
This is a temporary, part-time, casual position working up to 20 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Registration/Admission
Works in cooperation with the Academic Departments to problem solve and ensure learner success
Provides information on policies and procedures
Provides information on prerequisites and co-requisites
Admits learners into SAIT; registers once prerequisites have been met
Where additional entrance criteria are in place, notifies learner of requirements and sequence; confirms status of applications
Update student files when courses are cancelled
Updates the Banner database as required during the course of a transaction
Assist students with mark appeals, transcript requests, timetables and drop/add.
Clear various error reports (i.e., Apprentice, web registration, track)
Provides pre-registration support to potential learners, parents, and industry representatives
Access Apprentice records to confirm eligibility to register applicants into programs
Guides learners in the use of the Web and mySAIT as a research tool and communication method
Maintain wait lists for Continuing Education & apprentice courses.
Financial Assistance
Responds to inquiries about learner financial assistance, accepts and verifies related documents
Accepts payment (credit card or debit card)
Balances cashier sessions
Reviews loan documents for completeness
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma is preferred. Equivalencies will be considered.
Three to five years proven related experience within a Registrar’s Office of a post-secondary institution.
Banner knowledge is preferred.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Successful candidates must provide proof of qualifications. Only education obtained from an accredited institution will be recognized.
