Our enterprise client has an exciting contract for a Junior Buyer to support the Supply Chain group in the processing and administration of purchase orders at their downtown office in Calgary. The successful candidate will be able to develop and identify opportunities for improvement and greater efficiencies in processing purchase orders. The successful candidate will work closely with internal clients, and other partners and suppliers to resolve payment issues and create solutions to mitigate future instances.

Daily Tasks and Value Activities:

  • Provide regular progress and status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Establish and maintain positive and productive supplier and Stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of purchase orders for payment.
  • Assist staff, vendors and Accounts Payable with invoice queries in a timely manner.
  • Create Requisitions.
  • Provide relevant support to field staff to resolve issues, problems etc. relating to transactional activities.
  • Create goods receipts and service entries in SAP.
  • Maintain relevant receipt documentation per purchasing policy and requirements to ensure compliance for all goods/service entries made.
  • Assist with clearing of blocked items on the invoice report.
  • Provide support to resolve open items in the GRIR account.
  • Assist with related audit queries.
  • Provide support to team and business unit stakeholders to ensure workflow within process is efficient, minimizing potential for blockage.
  • Provide systems training where required.
  • Train and familiarize team colleagues on specifics of job role to enable team workload spread to be as efficient and effective as possible whilst ensuring meet timelines and expectations of stakeholders.

  • There will be a very large data entry component to the role

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of Supply Chain experience is required.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills.
  • Capable of working collaboratively with diverse organizational groups under limited supervision.
  • Proficiency with SAP (SCM, MM), MS Excel and other relevant computer applications.
  • Positive and enthusiastic work ethic and attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to see issues through to resolution.
  • Post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Relevant Supply Chain/ Accounting certifications or other education would be an asset.
