Run Well Events is entering its 10th season of offering first class youth triathlon events. As we continue to grow by expanding our portfolio of events we are looking to fill the role of a Race Operations Assistant to handle tasks related to the race crew and operations. This is an exciting position as it involves a fast-paced, fun environment, travel and being part of a team dedicated to creating the most positive experience for our participants.

The Race Operations Assistant will share the responsibility for the overall race set up and take down, managing race crew, course management and inventory of supplies. This position requires flexible working hours (20 hours per weekend) and potential work out of province (BC, Alberta) . Typical hours; Saturday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Sunday 3:30 am to 4:30 pm. The position involves some pre-event planning.

Run Well Events Inc. Directors, Tara and Brad Melville

Duties and Responsibilities

• Detailed knowledge of courses and requirements for set up
• Directing and managing event suppliers
• Manage preliminary set up – Saturday and final set up – Sunday
• Assist with management and direction of Race Crew and Volunteers
• Assume a key role during the race
• Monitor athlete/spectator flow
• Co-manage race day Captains
• Track inventory of consumable items
• Manage effective loading and unloading of truck
• Assist with recruitment of crew members
• Effective communication with Race Crew (pre, post and during event)

Qualifications

• Sporting event experience – running, triathlon, cycling or similar.
• Friendly and engaging with a capacity to lead and motivate others
• Minimum post-secondary education
• Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Must have your own car, races are across Southern Ontario
• Willingness to work flexible hours and travel

$300 to $400 per event depending on experience and qualifications.
