Job Description:
The student will be a key contributor to the Prevention,
Screening & Education Team and function in supporting
key players in multiple areas, including health
promotion in the area of cancer prevention and
screening, along with staff and patient/family
education. The position entails work in the Regional
Cancer Program, in the community and with relevant
stakeholders, such as local schools, the public health
unit, and other cancer-related organizations (i.e.
Gilda’s Club, Canadian Cancer Society). The individual
may oversee a group of youth peer leader positions that
work to promote health as it relates to cancer
prevention.

Job Requirements:Education:

• High School graduate
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (i.e.

health promotion, nursing, health science)

Experience:

• Experience with computers is essential
• Experience working effectively in a fast paced

environment

• Experience working on health promotion/education

initiatives

• Experience with youth engagement and empowerment
• Experience with social media technologies
• Graphic design experience considered an asset

Competencies:

• Keen interest in prevention, screening and education

in the context of the cancer system

• Creative and innovative skills to address health

promotion

• Able to work in both independent and team-based

settings

• Excellent written and verbal communication essential
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage sensitive

and confidential scenarios and information

• Proven demonstration of workplace excellence shown by

commitment to strong job performance and attendance
