Reporting to the Manager of Central Processing, the Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing surgical/procedural instruments and hardware in preparation for sterilization. You will also prepare case carts, sterilize linens, document and report, and other duties as related.
Requirements: •Completion of Central Reprocessing course from a recognized college or minimum 5+ years experience in central processing
•Reprocessing experience in either an OR or CPD
•Sound knowledge of instrument care and handling and the principles of decontamination and sterilization
•Proven ability to work independently using initiative
•Evidence of sound organizational and prioritisation skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
•Excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills
•Basic personal computer experience.
•Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
•Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
•Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
•Demonstrated pattern of good attendance
Physical Demands: •Stretching, bending and lifting up to a maximum 12 kg.
•Must be capable of pushing/pulling loaded supply carts.
•Must be able to meet demands of standing and/or walking for extended periods.
