Rock Lake Lodge is currently seeking a Chef to oversee kitchen operations to accommodate 40-seat restaurant. This is a unique opportunity to spend your summer in the great outdoors while helping to make this lodge a home away from home for all those who bring their salacious palette! Spend your summer providing our guests with your expertise of creating heartwarming comfort food.

The Chef oversees, manages, and runs all kitchen and catering needs at Rock Lake Lodge. In accordance with the General Manager, you will determine the menu changes, equipment and ingredients that are necessary, and handle special menu requests. You will manage the kitchen staff in compliance with all health and safety regulations by ensuring adherence to sanitary and safe food handling guidelines at all times.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited too)

  • Assist in the management of all kitchen and cooking responsibility for Rock Lake Lodge.
  • Work with the team to provide excellent customer service.
  • Work with management to provide a board menu daily using fresh food and products.
  • Establish and maintain service standards for the lodge.
  • Responsible for the production, preparation and presentation of all food items, ensuring fresh quality at all times.
  • Will make all food item purchases.
  • Inventory control of food ingredients and equipment.
  • Implementing cost controls where necessary in discussion with the Operations Manager.
  • Inspect kitchen and equipment to ensure the compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations.

Requirements:

  • 3rd or 4th year apprentice – welcome - food and beverage culinary management experience with demonstrated leadership.
  • Extensive knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards e.g., Food Safe Certification.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding and comfort during the guests stay.
  • Innovative, detail oriented, and quality conscious.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive team attitude and greet any guests you come across with a smile.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Able to work the square for purchases.
  • Professional appearance and manners.

Location: Rock Lake Provincial Park, Alberta. Minutes away from the mouth of Willmore Wilderness and 30km away from the nearest highway. Jasper town centre is a 1 hour drive away. Position: Full-Time, Seasonal (May 15 – end of September 2017)

Residence On-Site: Room provided and lounge area for staff.

Wage: To be Negotiated

Mandatory Start Date: May 15, 2017
