Title: Restaurant Line Cook

Reports to: Executive Chef

The Reversing Falls Restaurant is ramping up for an incredibly busy tourist season and we are looking for a professional Line Cook to join our team. The Line Cook will report to the Executive Chef and will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Position Requirements and Key Responsibilities

  • Main duties will involve the preparation, cooking, and presenting of various dishes, adhering to the exact specifications of the Executive Chef.
  • Line Cook duties also involve set-up and stocking of key kitchen stations for the menu with all necessary supplies.
  • Duties involve preparing food for services on ever changing menus which may include, chopping vegetables, preparing food for storage, butchering meat, making soups, preparing salads, desserts, or preparing sauces.
  • Line Cooks will cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff, ensuring that dishes leave the kitchen simultaneously, in a timely fashion, and are of the highest quality in both flavour and presentation.
  • Maintenance of clean work stations and quickly taking care of any leftover food items to be stored, along with stocking appropriate inventory, focusing on FIFO will be of utmost importance.
  • Compliance with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards will be an integral part of the Line Cooks’ daily duties.
  • The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction goals and will maintain a positive and professional approach with all coworkers and customers.

Other Requirements

  • 2 years proven restaurant or hotel experience as a line cook, garde manger cook, banquet cook, or prep cook.
  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Familiar with the Culinary industry’s best practices.
  • A Culinary school diploma is considered an asset but not required.
