RHS Canada is currently seeking an enthusiastic, customer service oriented individual who is passionate, flexible, and eager to learn & grow for the role of Medical Office Assistant to work within our local branch office located in Port Alberni, Vancouver Island, BC.

Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, this role is primarily responsible for providing support in answering incoming calls and providing exceptional customer service to RHS clients and personnel. This role is also responsible for entering in all delivery slips, third Party billing, processing authorizations, entering in all private billing and requesting prescriptions.

A positive attitude and friendly accommodating voice are essential as this position is the “face of RHS Inc.”

Specific Responsibilities

  • Covering main reception – answering & directing incoming calls
  • Accepting and scheduling patient appointments
  • Filing and communicating with physician offices
  • Providing assistance to clinical care team which includes assembling, downloading and cleaning technical equipment
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies
  • Coordinating equipment return
  • Performing diagnostic testing on patients
  • Occasional travel to other Vancouver Island branch locations may be required
  • Providing patient instruction on operation of equipment.


  • Completion of Post-Secondary Education in Administration, Medical Office Assistant program or related discipline is highly desirable
  • 3 years of experience in reception/administration role
  • Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) would be a definite asset
  • Ability to handle busy office & switchboard
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under stressful situations
  • Ability to travel and must have valid driver’s license
  • Superior organizational & customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail. Always exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the talent for communicating clearly, simply and concisely in a mature and professional manner
