The Registered Nurse (RN) works as a member of the rural health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families and/or communities within level of competency. Patient population varies from emergency care, pre and post-operative, paediatric, seniors, palliative, labour and delivery and postpartum. The RN provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, preventing illness, injury and disability or supporting a peaceful death. The RN provides care throughout the life span, in all stages of health and complexities of illness.

The successful candidate will administer safe and effective nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards.

Qualifications:

– Active registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) REQUIRED
– Labour and Delivery /Surgical Day Care/Emergency experience REQUIRED
– Basic Cardiac Life Support Heath Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) REQUIRED
– Current Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) REQUIRED
– Current Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) REQUIRED
– Certification in Canadian Triage & Acuity Scale (CTAS) REQUIRED
– Charge Registered Nurse experience REQUIRED

Preference will be given to those with one or more of the following certifications:
– Certification in Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred
– 1 year recent labour and delivery experience preferred
– Fetal Health Surveillance experience preferred
– Current IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) certification an asset
– Ability to work in emergency and maternity triage preferred
– Antepartum knowledge and previous antepartum nursing experience preferred

Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment required

Expectation of successful candidate to:

– Complete STORC module training within 2 months
– After STORC Modules completed – enrolls in and participates in MOREOB program and activities including:
– Participate in simulation / skills / emergency drills
– Annual review of chapters
– Complete annual MOREOOB exam
