Department/Division: Planning, Development & Legislative Services/Council & Administrative Services

Location: Administration Headquarters, 150 Frederick Street, Kitchener

Description of Duties:

# Appraise, arrange, preserve and describe archival records.
# Assist to make determinations about record retention, preservation, and arrangement. Research and write reports relating to record content.
# Create a temporary exhibit and deliver presentations to promote the services of the Section. # Assist researchers in Research Room, as required.
# Work frequently requires mental and visual concentration, and manual dexterity.
# Periodically bends, stoops or reaches when retrieving records, and lifts boxes weighing up to 15 kg.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

# Knowledge of history, heritage, archival studies or regional government, acquired through current enrolment in a University program in Archival Studies, Conservation, Information Studies, Library Science, or related field.
# Eligible student participants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; and have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
# Basic knowledge of archival practices and procedures.
# Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently following established procedures.
# Computer skills using software such as MS Office and an electronic document management system.
# Strong attention to detail.
# Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
