Reclaiming Connections Project

Reclaiming Connections is currently looking for an Indigenous Community Engagement Coordinator to support the Reclaiming Connections working group. This will be accomplished by facilitating the process of contacting and liaise with 4 or 5 identified Indigenous communities to develop collaborative partnerships with the development of Reclaiming Connections Parent Program that is run out of the MCFD Maples Adolescent Treatment Center.

MCFD Maples is currently looking for Community Engagement Coordinator on contract until March 31, 2018. This is a (30 hours per week) contract at a rate of pay of $27/hour.

Responsibilities and Duties

KEY DUTIES AND RESPOSIBLITIES

  • Work with project team members, to create Reclaiming Connections draft guide and program materials
  • Support, facilitate and coordinate all aspects of collaboration and communication between partners and the working group
  • Network/gather partners to share and discuss the process progress and the next steps to take moving forward
  • Organize all aspects of the collaborative meeting/gathering in spring 2018
  • Record meeting minutes, support team to stay on track with tasks and timelines
  • In collaboration with the working group, support new community partners to come together and learn about Reclaiming Connections
  • Document and track progress
  • Assist working group with acknowledging community contributions to all the above

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preference will be given to candidates that are Indigenous (First Nations status or non-status, Métis, Inuit)
  • Reside in B.C.
  • Provide meaningful work/life experience related working in the community
  • Knowledge in Indigenous culture that they are eager to share
  • Ability to provide consultation, conversation, guidance and mentorship to others
  • Demonstrate leadership potential through your work experience
  • Have knowledge of Indigenous governments and organizations such as First Nations Band Councils, BC Assembly of First Nations, First Nations Summit, Union of BC Indian Chiefs, Métis Nation BC, or other provincial and urban organizations such as the BC Association of Friendship Centers, youth councils or associations
  • Have knowledge about the underlying issues that Indigenous people in Canada face
  • Completed criminal record check is required
  • Post-secondary Education/training in Clinical Counselling/Social work or 5 years related experience

Job Type: Contract
