Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Events Specialist will play a critical role in orchestrating attention-grabbing events that will help drive new sales opportunities. The responsibilities include: researching events, booking shows, negotiating contracts, determining event staff, preparing show materials, organizing and executing booth setup. The Events Specialist will have ongoing interaction with the Sales team and members of the Marketing team.

We’re looking for a motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills and an eye for detail. Our Events Specialist is focused on customer satisfaction and able to articulate the intricacies of an event to the team. The successful candidate will be creative, confident, process and goal driven but fun to work with.

THE ROLE:

  • Create staffing schedules and register attendees for the trade shows including determining accommodation requirements.
  • Handle contracting and logistics for tradeshow exhibition, including travel arrangements and coordinating all exhibit and materials shipping.
  • Work with marketing staff to development and produce new tradeshow exhibits as needed.
  • Lead and participate in set up/tear down of booth.
  • Analyze success of tradeshows.
  • Research new shows, gathers information and works with Marketing Manager to approve/deny any show requests
  • Support the creation and management of a selection of POP materials
  • Organize annual sales meeting and other company events as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of trade show, event coordination and/or sales and marketing experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Availability to travel to trade shows as required and work outside of normal office hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Degree or diploma in marketing or equivalent experience is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English. French as a second language is an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects while still maintaining accuracy and an attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Have a passion for event management and event marketing and a belief in the power of in-person events
  • Previous experience managing a budget, complemented by analytical and project management skills
  • Capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 30 lbs. (booth set-up and tear-down), walking and standing for long periods of time.
