What is the opportunity?
RBC’s Commodity Operations Group is looking to hire an Operations Analyst to join its Toronto Office. The incumbent will provide settlement and trade support to internal and external stakeholders for the OTC Commodity derivative and physical trading desks located in Toronto, London and New York.
What will you do?
On a daily basis prepare daily cash payments/receipts via wire transfers, ACH payments, G/L accounting entries through sub ledger systems in a timely and accurate manner.
Prepare invoices for agreement with OTC clients.
Update and maintain queries and reports that pertain to settlement related activity in Openlink.
Ensure strong understanding of all product and instrument types accounting rules for the asset class being supported.
Advise the appropriate Front Office personnel on the funding trades to be booked and adherence to deadlines.
Act as the point person to address funding related questions from Front Office and Finance.
Prepare and complete monthly, quarterly and yearly regulatory filings for the various RBC legal entities
Compile data for Index Brokerage Fees for quarterly market participant payments for review by Senior Analyst.
Perform balance sheet & p/l account analysis for all accounts owned by Commodities Operations team.
Proactively identify opportunities to further streamline processes. Recommend cost efficient and effective controls for the team with the introduction of new processes, products and systems. Initiate and implement recommendations for automation.
What do you need to succeed?
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (BBA / BComm/ BA)
Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills (Pivot Tables and Macros)
Sound knowledge of trading practices/terminology and derivatives products
High degree of accuracy and ability to analyze large amounts of data
Working hours may change depending on the asset class the position will be covering, but general working hours range between 8:00 to 5:30pm.
- Maybe required to work on statutory holidays.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of VBA and SQL
Accounting knowledge preferred
Experience in Capital Markets Operation or Technology positions
Experience in RBC applications – Openlink, Opics, RIMMS, GL Requestor, Clarity, Citrix, FiBRS and STORqM
