Employees in this role spend their time proactively interacting with clients in all areas of the branch, offering help and identifying additional opportunities to meet clients’ financial needs by providing advice and solutions in the moment, booking an appointment or referring to a colleague. They assist clients with their financial and transactional needs (short and long term) including: everyday banking (Small Business and Personal), managing debt, savings and risk. They contribute to the branch’s client experience and sales results by providing personalized advice and solutions, referring to partners, and deepening client relationships through cross-selling. The flexibility of the Banking Advisor enables RBC to offer more sophisticated discovery and advice at first point of contact with our clients.

As Banking Advisors spend their time helping clients in all areas of the branch (at the ATM, in the Welcome Zone, on the counter and in an office), they need to be avid opportunity spotters that are flexible to provide “in the moment” advice and solutions as well as serve deeper, more complex and advanced client needs. Banking advisors are expected to have the sophisticated ability to meet client needs through both sales and service conversations in one interaction in all areas of the branch. Depending on branch requirements, they may be scheduled to cover the transactional area, CAA desk or welcome zone to from a minimum of 5% (~1.5 hours a week) to a maximum of 30% (~9 hours a week) of the time. This time provides an excellent opportunity to interact with more clients, have additional discovery discussions, source more appointments and increase their ability to sell and build pipeline.

This is a face-to-face sales role in RBC’s Commercial and Personal Banking platform. RBC Offers

Key Accountabilities
Proactively engage with clients in all areas the branch uncovering banking needs, providing advice and identifying sales and referral opportunities.
Advise clients on tailored financial solutions such as personal/business accounts, credit cards, loans/line of credit, overdraft, mortgages and investments that meet client needs.
Respond to client-initiated contacts, assisting with financial transactions (deposits, withdrawals, cheque cashing/ordering, bill payments, money orders and transfers, and foreign currency exchanges) while prospecting for additional opportunities, referral and appointment bookings.
Maintain and grow the client’s portfolio by identifying and promoting personal banking advice and solutions with a continuous focus on client service and new business development.
Take ownership of client problems, respond with empathy and provide sound solutions.

Required Capabilities
Knowledge/Accreditation
Must have Mutual Funds license i.e. Canadian Securities Course or Investment Funds in Canada
Knowledge or fluency in a second language is an asset
Experience
Proven selling skills in retail or financial services with formal selling targets Skills/Competencies/Attributes
Must have strong communication skills and be a natural conversation starter, comfortable approaching, engaging and building strong rapport with clients

Education
Post-secondary diploma/degree, ideally in Commerce, Business Administration or related experience
