Raymond James Ltd. is seeking upcoming Financial/Investment Advisors who are keen to develop their career at one of our branch locations across Canada through our New Advisor Development Program (NADP). Raymond James Ltd. is one of Canada’s leading independent investment dealers offering high quality investment products and services to Canadians seeking customized solutions to their wealth management needs.

The Raymond James NADP is a comprehensive and demanding career development training program that prepares aspiring Financial/Investment Advisors to meet industry requirements and grow a successful advisory practice. Candidates will join the firm as employees, and be supported during the 36 month development phase of becoming an Advisor.

The NADP begins with a 90-day focused development training program to fulfill the regulatory requirements of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC). Raymond James goes beyond satisfying core requirements through learning designed to develop program participants into high-performing professionals, who can be fully effective in their roles from the instant they are trained. The NADP is conducted as an interactive program that includes a combination of classroom training, virtual classroom training, e-learning, one-on-one coaching, and on-the job training.

New advisors are expected to grow their assets under administration by $4 million in year one; plus $5 million in year two; plus $6 million in year three.


Once licensed and/or trained, Financial/Investment Advisors will begin building their own portfolio of high net worth clients through various prospecting methods, i.e., outbound calling, networking, seminars, direct mail campaigns and various other sales and marketing methods. The role involves advising clients on products and services available, ensuring they are aware of and understand those that best meet their needs, and then executing trades to buy/sell securities. If insurance licensed, Financial/Investment Advisors may also offer advice to clients on purchasing insurance. Clients may include private individuals, corporate organizations, specific groups (e.g. societies) etc.


Educational Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education;
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) prior to hire date (valid & completed within the last three years);
  • Successful completion of the Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH) prior to hire date (valid & completed within the last three years);
  • Upon hire, the Raymond James 90-Day NADP training program must be attended and successfully completed;
  • Successful completion of the Wealth Management Essentials Course (WME) within 24 months of hire date;
  • Successful completion of Insurance License within 24 months of hire date;
  • Fulfillment of IIROC continuing education requirements on an ongoing basis.

Experience and Attributes:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in a business environment;
  • Experience with using various prospecting methods to gain appointments;
  • Proven finance/sales/entrepreneurial skills in an advice capacity to persons of influence;
  • Working knowledge of Business/Finance/Economics acquired through the combination of a university degree and/or related work experience;
  • Previous knowledge of investment products and services is a definite asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal/relationship building skills required to build strong, positive and trusting client relationships;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills sufficient to meet multiple and conflicting deadlines in a high pressure environment;
  • Ability to prepare proposals and presentation/seminar materials;
  • Well-developed presentation skills sufficient to convey both factual and conceptual information and ideas to clients.
  • Ability to learn quickly and make sound, timely decisions;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.

This is a full-time position with a competitive compensation and benefits package. Remuneration for this position will consist of a diminishing guarantee over a 2 year period plus commission once licensed. Final year of 36 month program is commission based only.
