Role Description

The summer internship Analyst position will report to the Vice President of Real Estate & Development. The Analyst helps to execute the strategic plan by engaging in analysis of the current investment portfolio, conducting detailed due diligence on partners, investment programs, and investments, and providing recommendations to the senior team members to enhance the performance of the portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the monitoring and valuation of existing investments, including analyzing and reviewing quarterly reports, financial statements, and investment documents.
  • Monitor investments ensuring commitments and milestones are achieved, oversee the appropriate disbursement and receipt of funds, manage external managers and partners ensuring funds are invested in accordance with agreements.
  • Assist in the quarterly and annual investment valuation process.
  • Assist with investment and cash flow forecasting.
  • Perform return calculations and analysis.
  • Responsible for records management of the group.
  • Assist in conducting due diligence and market research for investment opportunities – evaluating past investment and/or financial performance, quality of management team, terms, documents, agreements and economic characteristics of investments.
  • Assist team in preparation of tactical portfolio strategies.
  • Assist with internal reporting and presentations.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Education – Enrolled in an accredited University program with an emphasis on real estate finance or investment analysis.
  • Experience –Previous/R elated industry experience seen as an asset – such as real estate (investment manager or developer), brokerage firm, appraisal firm, investment bank or lender.
  • Analytical / Computer Skills – Excellent analytical, math, and problem solving skills; Advanced knowledge of Excel, knowledge with Argus Enterprise nice to have, proficiency with PowerPoint and Word.
  • Relationship Skills – Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with all personalities; ability to exercise strict confidentiality
  • Organizational/Multi-Task Skills – Accurate and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills; ability to allocate one’s time effectively, work under pressure, manage and meet tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities, and adapt to new ideas and constant changes; ability to use initiative and self-management skills to work independently with minimal direction and respond effectively to issues that arise.
