About the Job:

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Controller, and will be liaising with other internal and external stake-holders. They will be ensuring that internal reporting is effective, timely, and accurate; that corporate assets are safeguarded; and that IFRS and other requirements are appropriately complied with. The Financial Analyst position is located at our Corporate head office at Casino Edmonton.

Responsibilities of this job include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of financial information, analyses and reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements
  • Daily and monthly processes including but not limited to:
    • Reconciling payroll entries and accounts
    • Recording bank account entries
    • Initiating wires and transfers
    • Account analysis and reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts
    • Other accruals and expense entries as required
    • Reviewing and posting operational journal entries
    • Reviewing and reporting operational costs
    • Reviewing and reporting capital expenditures and accounts
    • Providing support for month end inventory posting
    • Preparing NRT (non-resident tax) payments
    • Preparing year-end working papers for external audits
    • Coordinating the establishment and maintenance of internal financial reporting control processes to produce management financial reporting
    • Ensuring consistent implementation of financial controls and processes
    • Maintaining user permissions in ERP system
    • Reviewing and developing policies
    • Reporting on areas for process improvement and efficiency
    • Direct supervision of reconciliation employees
    • Other duties as required

What You Need:

  • College or university degree.
  • Professional accounting designation.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with a Microsoft ERP system (e.g. NAV, Great Plains, AX) preferred, experience with another ERP system would be an asset.
  • Self-directed with a high degree of rigor and accountability.
  • The ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with a keen willingness to learn.
  • Ability to remain focused under pressure, prioritize tasks, and multi-task.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
  • Experience in the hospitality or gaming industry would be an asset.
  • Must be authorized to legally work in Canada.
