Position Description

The Human Resources Advisor provides front-line human resources services working in partnership with various divisions and branch offices within Western Canada. The Human Resources Advisor has a business oriented approach, strong interpersonal skills, a willingness to take initiative and enjoys a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The Advisor is a broad generalist, but ideally has had at least one specialist role (e.g. Compensation, Training, and Recruitment).

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and project administration support (including, but not limited to: database Provides advanced HR consultative support to PTW business units in the functional areas of human resources: employee relations, talent management, talent sourcing, performance management, special projects and policy interpretation.
  • Responsible for the delivery of specific HR elements critical to PTW’s business plan.
  • Creates, reviews, and maintains headcount, turnover, staffing data and other HR reports.
  • Carries out research and data analysis and assists with proposals and presentations
  • Provides leadership and executes special projects.
  • Strong team player, willing and able to provide counsel and guidance to more junior HR peers.
  • Provides support and guidance to managers regarding recruitment strategies.
  • Completes all tasks relevant to employee recruiting, including the creation of job postings, prescreen telephone interviews, face-to-face interviews and reference checks.
  • Designs and facilitates training sessions on various HR and Corporate programs.
  • Performs additional duties, such as, exit interviews, job offers, database tracking, candidate inquiries, and employee evaluations as necessary to support HR initiatives.
  • Attends career/job fairs and represents the PTW business unit in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ensures that tasks are completed in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.
  • Acts in a manner consistent with and according to PTW’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethical Behaviour.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • A post-secondary degree in Human Resources or in a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years direct and progressive experience in the field of Human Resources.
  • Recruitment and interviewing experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial and employment laws required.
  • Knowledge of disability and WCB practices an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with all HR matters in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong facilitation skills required.
  • Strong ability to coach/council a variety of professions and managers.
  • Strong ability to influence and motivate action within the organization by leveraging strong working relationships.
  • CPHR designation or working toward a CPHR designation is an asset.
  • A self-starter with strong problem solving, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills, with particular strength in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
