This position is available in Montreal or in Toronto depending on the place of residence of the candidate Reporting to the President of ADT Canada with a dotted line to the Head of Corporate Communications the tenure of this position will be responsible for developing strategic internal and external communications that protect and promote ADT’s Canada and Corporate reputation with key stakeholders; advance business objectives through communications that improve organizational effectiveness and enhance stakeholder alignment with operating priorities; and enhance the company’s retention and engagement of the talent it needs to support growth. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and manage a global internal communications strategy that reinforces ADT Canada strategy and culture Partner with the Executive Leadership Team members responsible for all departments and develop communications plans as needed Collaborate with the Head of Corporate Communications Lead media relations, mergers and acquisitions, leadership changes, and other corporate news Maintain ongoing, trusted relationships with key reporters who cover ADT and its industry Advocate for the role and importance of employee communications, and be able to anticipate issues in making business decisions Build employer brand architecture and oversee all HR Communications Create, enhance, and manage the appropriate mix of employee communications programs, channels and vehicles to drive awareness and understanding of the ADT business Develop and lead the internal Crisis Communications function Serve as editor-in-chief of all employee publications including weekly newsletter Manage ADT Communications Network team in strengthening the communications cascading process and reinforcing two-way communication with the field Manage key business meetings, including the annual Leadership Meeting and other internal events Serve as a trusted counselor who leads by example, delivers unsurpassed client service and collaborates effectively with colleagues throughout the company QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE: Undergraduate degree required; MBA or equivalent a plus Minimum of 10+ years of experience; Ideal candidate will have experience working within PR agencies and large corporation Minimum of 8+ years of media relations experience ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Bilingualism essential Strong, senior-level strategic thinking capability combined with a willingness to roll up your sleeves Outstanding writing skills, including the ability to author large volumes of original written content, edit content received from others and handle quality-control and proof-reading Outstanding verbal communications (both an articulate speaker and active, nuanced listener), adapting to diverse audiences and effectively engaging at the executive level Media relations experience, and track record of successfully pitching and placing reputation-enhancing stories Ability to routinely link communications to broader organizational goals and values Track-record of individually creating and building buy-in for both multi-year and project-specific strategic communications plans Superb project management ability; establishes and/or refines relevant communications tools, templates, processes, guidelines, and calendars to effectively manage workflow Creative thinker; conceives and executes innovative solutions to meet or exceed goals Demonstrates personal accountability for building the company’s employee brand by balancing communications with a variety of internal engagement and marketing strategies, models and programs Creates and personally implement new approaches to effectively using every available communications channel and resource, including innovative new approaches to technology and a variety of print-based, live, and electronic platforms to achieve measurable communications goals Strong, motivating leader with listening, coaching and influencing skills; ability to build strong partnerships with communications colleagues as well as executives and employees at multiple levels Customer-centric focus, highly responsive, with a demonstrated ability to anticipate, set and manage expectations; must have a strong results orientation, and find ways to make things work, rather than reasons that they won’t Open minded problem-solver with an ability to produce results despite changing or ambiguous circumstances; adaptive and willing to take on a variety of new assignments Ability to develop change management communications and handle relevant workflow Individual must be competent in the use of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
