MANDATORY CRITERIA (resource must have the following)

The candidate must demonstrate that they meet the following requirements (Mandatory Criteria):

  • Valid security duplication with company (firm) submitting application.
  • Accounting or auditing designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA, CIA or CGAP) is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in a Canadian Public Sector context (federal, provincial, or municipal government);
  • Minimum of 5 years of internal audit professional experience, gained in the last 10 years, in leading all aspects of internal audit engagements (including the audit plan, the conduct of fieldwork, and reporting) in a Canadian Public Sector context according to professional Institute of Internal Audit standards;
  • Significant* experience in briefing management, clients and internal audit senior management (Internal Audit Directors and the Chief Audit Executive) in the presentation of internal audit results;
  • Significant* experience in writing internal audit reports.

*Significant is defined as experience gained as an ongoing requirement of a position or job occupied for a period of at least 5 years.

Duties

  • Participate in the development of process maps and participate in the evaluation of processes and procedures to ensure the effective recording, tracking and management of data;
  • Review, test and analyze data and reports to ensure management has appropriate information for decision making and financial resources are appropriately allocated to meet objectives;
  • Interact with staff and management to collect data, conduct interviews, and perform walkthroughs;
  • Examine records to ensure accuracy; and compliance to established policies and procedures;
  • Analyze, test and assess information obtained through interviews, observation and review of documentation;
  • Identify and document control deficiencies or weaknesses. Understand and communicate the impact on the organization; and
  • Develop recommendations for improvements to management practices.
  • Synthesize audit results into a summary of findings and participate in presenting the results to the client.

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $57.50 /hour
