You might just be the perfect ElectroRecycle Outreach Ambassador, ready to travel the province and encourage every community to keep it green.

This summer two enthusiastic champions of sustainability will get the chance to join our team and travel across the province, meeting new people, and educating British Columbians about recycling.

We’re going north and south, east and west to every corner on British Columbia raising awareness and educating about the program through public outreach including community events, visits to retailers, and media interviews. Additionally, you will be eyes and ears of the program, building relationships and collecting feedback from important stakeholders such as regional and civic government officials, collection sites, and the retail community.


  • Organize and attend community events throughout B.C. to educate and raise awareness of the program
  • Help reach every corner of BC by travelling to events and round-ups across the province
  • Meet with collection stakeholders to gather feedback and create a two-way dialogue about the program
  • Regularly update ElectroRecycle’s social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram & blog)
  • Provide weekly reports summarizing the activities and feedback from the week
  • Act as a spokesperson for ElectroRecycle (media training will be provided)
  • Create engaging displays and activities at events and festivals to entertain as well as educate


  • You are a fun, outgoing people person, who can bring energy and enthusiasm to any situation
  • You are an excellent communicator and feel confident engaging with the public at community events , teaching youth at school workshops , or even doing media interviews
  • You have a successful track record for working independently and as a collaborative team member
  • You have cultivated an engaging voice on social media and have a flair for good content
  • You are enrolled in or have completed post-secondary training in a relevant discipline or diploma such as marketing, communications or environmental studies
  • Previous experience in marketing / communications and sustainability is an asset
  • An interest in Graphic design or photography is an asset


Launched in October 2011, ElectroRecycle is a Small Appliance and Power Tool Recycling Program and is managed by the Canadian Electrical Stewardship Association (CESA). The purpose of the program is to give British Columbians new and convenient recycling options for these products. It is the first small appliance recycling program of its kind in Canada and the only government-approved small appliance recycling program in B.C. ElectroRecycle accepts more than 300 small appliances, ranging in size from toasters and electric toothbrushes to countertop microwaves, vacuum cleaners, power tools, sewing machines and even exercise equipment. There are two positions available. This is a paid, full-time, contract position (40 hours per week). The start date is May 1st until August 31st. Expenses per Diem will be provided for travel outside of Metro Vancouver. Applicants must be eligible to rent and drive a vehicle (ie. 21 years old as of April 30th, 2017 with Class 5 license)
