On behalf of our client, Procom is recruiting for a Quality Assurance Analyst to specialize in Test Scripting and Test Execution. The primary role of the Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is to ensure the quality, delivery of software releases, customer applications, end to end business processes, IT systems and discretionary processes. To effectively meet the challenges of this role, the QA analyst will need to utilize their understanding of testing methodologies and should be an effective team player. The QA analyst must be at ease in communicating with both technical (developers) and non-technical (stakeholders, management) people and must be able to communicate effectively in writing. The QA Analyst will be required to write test scenarios and test cases based on business requirement documents, and then summarize the results of those tests. The QA analyst will also provide support to the outsourced test execution team with their end to end execution for test activities. The QA Analyst will work within established processes and methods and be able to integrate those processes into the development life cycles of assigned work. The QA Analyst may also be expected to occasionally lead small projects and assist with the resourcing estimates for upcoming projects on the horizon.

Responsibilities

  • Attend walkthrough sessions for requirement reviews
  • Review and analyze requirements documentation and specifications to determine the appropriate QA test approach
  • Plan, organize and coordinate delivery of work assignments
  • Develop high level test approach for assigned projects
  • Develop and document detailed step-by-step test cases for an outsourced test execution team
  • Update regression scripts to constantly enhance and optimize the regression testing suite
  • Provide test execution support for projects and participate in test execution as required
  • Participate in peer reviews
  • Communicate test progress, test results and other relevant information to leads
  • Log defects during testing cycles
  • Support hotfix testing for production defects as required
  • Utilize the testing tool HP Quality Center
  • Assist Team Leads with providing QA effort estimates for upcoming projects
  • Work collaboratively with QA onshore and near shore outsourced teams
  • Contribute into QA continuous improvement items
  • Provide projects/release support for release Stream Leads
  • Lead and support small projects as requested
  • Develop and maintain testing standards, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistent testing procedures
  • Be available for potential on-call and/or weekend work (after-hours)

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems, or equivalent work experience with technical training, is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and/or MDPSI Systems and Business knowledge
  • Experience using a testing and/or defect-tracking tool (ie. HP Quality Center)
  • Financial services experience with knowledge of regulatory bodies, financial products and front/back office operations an asset
