Reporting to the Manager, Process Engineering, the Mineral Processing-Process Engineer will provide timely engineering support to Primary Extraction Operations for the delivery of safe, optimized, and environmentally responsible production. This includes operations support, troubleshooting, process analysis and optimization, continuous improvement initiatives, and capital project support

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide support to operations and other engineers in monitoring process conditions and troubleshooting on a daily basis
  • Lead or provide support on plant performance optimization studies
  • Lead or provide support to continuous improvement initiatives and process development initiatives
  • Provide engineering support for Capital and Sustaining projects in Primary Extraction (scope, business case development, and ongoing project support)
  • Provide Mentorship for Engineers in Training and students

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Engineering degree in Mineral Processing / Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Member of/or ability to register with APEGA as a Professional Engineer
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience, previous oil sands or mineral processing experience is a strong asset
  • Previous experience in leading and coaching team members would be considered an asset

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of mineral beneficiation processes, including crushing, conveying, pumping systems, slurry hydraulics, gravity separation, flotation, and metallurgical accounting
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams to deliver on improvement projects
  • Familiarity with P&ID’s, PFD’s, and other Process related documentation
  • Sharp problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • An effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relationships across numerous business units

  • Relocation to Fort McMurray is mandatory for this position
