(Position Type: Temporary Full Time; Location: Calgary, Alberta)

Postmedia Network Inc., parent company of the Calgary Sun and the Calgary Herald, has an immediate opening for a Temporary Full Time team member in the role of Print Services Technician based in Calgary, Alberta.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Work in the Production System software to plan publications according to requirements;

Communicate with Editorial and Advertising personnel to ensure efficient, accurate and on time workflows;

Monitor production workflows from pagination to print site and work in the Classified system to produce Advertising pages;

Trouble shooting problems and ensuring all plates are on time to meet rigid print schedules.

Strong customer service skills – professionally and positively handle clients with tack and diplomacy over the phone, online and in person;

Exceptional attention to detail and accountable to product deadlines, without exception;

Solid planning, time management and organizational skills;

A self-starter who can work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and changing priorities and able to work in a culture where change is the norm;

Able to work independently and with minimal direction while possessing a flexible attitude to “pitch in” to ensure local and cross-country deadlines are successfully met.

Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Graphic Arts and/or related experience in publishing software applications;

Proficient on both Macintosh and Windows Platforms and able to learn new systems quickly;

Experience planning a publication and an understanding of the newspaper organization and its operations an asset;

Able to work full time until January 2016;

Flexible in working various shifts over seven days a week, including the ability to regularly work into late evenings and on weekends;

A driver’s license and use of a vehicle recommended due to limited transit options late in the evening.
