Our Community Social Work (CSW) program is a two-year diploma that combines social work theory and practice to

better prepare our grads for work in the human services field. A key part of the CSW program at Portage College is the

experience and learning gained from a 420-hour supervised field practicum and 30 hours of integrated seminar time in

each year of study. CSW, which is offered at our campuses in Lac La Biche and Cold Lake, is part of the Faculty of Busi-

ness, Social Work, and University Studies, providing our instructors with a large pool of resources to draw from cross-

We are actively seeking a highly-motivated individual to join the Social Work team as an Instructor at the Lac La Biche

this may be the job for you. Some of the responsibilities of this position include:

 Classroom and distance education instruction.

 Preparation and delivery of subjects.

 Assisting with curriculum development and/or revision.

 Developing exams, quizzes and other evaluation material for students.

 Assisting in organizing and supervising student practicums.

 Assisting in managing all aspects of student progress in program.


 Master of Social Work in addition to several years experience in field of social work. Equivalencies may be consid-


 Experience working with rural, northern, and Aboriginal communities will be considered a definite asset.

 Current registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) or must be eligible for registration.

 Previous adult teaching and distance education experience would also be considered beneficial.

 Excellent communication and organizational skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

 Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office.

 Experience with Moodle or other Learning Management Systems would be an asset.

 Some travel is required for organizing and supervising practical rotations.
