Phyton Biotech is the world’s leader in plant cell fermentation technology (PCF) for pharmaceutical production. With facilities near Hamburg and Vancouver, we need to meet the needs of our growing sales. At this time we are searching for an Industrial Electrician who is driven, intelligent, and a team-oriented and can help contribute to our daily standard operating procedures and our long-term success.

Successful candidate requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Industrial Electrical Maintenance with hands on experience working with classified electrical systems (Class I, Div. I & II). Red Seal (BCTQ) Certificate in electrical is a requirement, however electrical certification from other sources will be considered. PLC experience, along with additional trade or tickets would be an asset.

Summary:

This individual will be responsible for the electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and preventative /predictive maintenance in support of Phyton’s pharmaceutical active ingredient (API) production and facility equipment and systems.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be assigned, as required):

  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment and systems in non-classified and classified manufacturing areas (ie. Class I, Div.I & II)
  • Install, examine, test, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, lighting fixtures and other electrical components as required in classified and non-classified areas
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance with an ability to troubleshoot and determine the root cause when failures occur
  • Install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices supporting production and facility equipment
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
  • Perform preventative maintenance programs and keep maintenance records per Phyton procedures
  • Interact, communicate and coordinate with all departments to provide excellent internal customer service
  • Assist with coordination of projects related to facilities/engineering expansion and improvement
  • Efficiently complete work orders, document work, and maintain equipment logs per Phyton’s equipment database requirements
  • Generate, understand, train and follow approved Phyton procedures
  • Provide guidance for essential parts to be kept in inventory and advise when required parts are not available to logistics group
  • Be available on call for response to plant emergencies and off shift requirements as needed
  • Willingness to work overtime and be flexible with schedule a must

Required Experience, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial electrical maintenance with hands on experience working with classified electrical systems (i.e. Class I, Div. I & II)
  • Red Seal (BCTQ) Certificate in electrical. Electrical certification from other sources will be considered
  • Additional trade or tickets would be an asset (millwright, controls technology)
  • PLC experience an asset
  • Ability to troubleshoot existing equipment/system problems as they occur and provide immediate and long term repairs or replacements
  • Fluent in English and proficient at documenting work activities in English per Phyton’s procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical & mechanical drawings and provide technical assistance for the installation of new circuits, panels and related electronic and electrical systems
  • Must be able to lift and move a minimum of 40lbs without assistance
  • Ability to create and edit simple AutoCAD drawings preferred but not required
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Detail-oriented with an eye for quality, accuracy and completing work on time in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to work off hours as required to ensure production is maintained
  • Collaborative, but comfortable working autonomously with strong interpersonal and team skills
