The Workshop Facilitator & Intake Worker’s role is to deliver a three week curriculum to multi-barriered clients followed by one week of one-to-one intake appointments to register prospective clients for our employment services.

The curriculum is already prepared and ready to be delivered. The goal is to provide clients with information that will create an understanding of and ability to identify their own needs, values and barriers in order to facilitate their successful transition from unemployment to labour market attachment, or when appropriate, training or community attachment. This position requires strong skills as a facilitator and a comprehensive understanding of employability issues.

Intake appointments will require a thorough and broad understanding of employment issues and barriers in all areas functioning, as well as skills and experience in quickly summarizing key client information for our Integrated Case Manager’s. Intake paperwork must be completed in full, so this person must be very precise and detail oriented.

This person must also be client centered, culturally competent, familiar with the challenges that multi-barriered clients face, and demonstrate a positive, professional manner, that encourages clients and staff to feel supported, engaged, and motivated.

Typing speed: Minimum of 30 wpm

Computer Skills:

  • Demonstrated advanced skills in MS-Word (eg. formatting, tables, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant job search tools and job banks
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of the Internet for research purposes
  • Prior experience with ICM (Integrated Case Management software) a plus

Training, Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 6 months facilitation/teaching experience, preferably in employment services
  • Minimum 6 months experience working working with multi-barriered clients
  • Experience and training in the employment/career development field (eg. Social Service Worker diploma, Career Development Practitioner certificate, Provincial Instructor’s Diploma, Job Club Leadership Certificate, Life Skills Certificate, etc.) OR a degree in related field
  • CCDP designation preferred
  • Experience completing intake appointments preferred

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the various types of employment barriers, as well as current and potential future labour market trends within BC, and employer needs
  • Familiarity and experience with a variety of assessments tools related to employability assessment, personal management/life skills, career decision making and disability
  • Culturally aware and sensitive to the needs of adult learners with experience working with a diverse population, especially individuals with multiple barriers and persons with disabilities
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
