  • To be recognized as a valued partner for the development of medical education initiatives which improves health care professionals (HCP) knowledge and patient outcomes
  • Lead the development of medical education initiatives through solid needs analysis by working with Medical Experts (ME) and accrediting bodies
  • Lead the content development, facilitation and execution of Medical/Mixed Advisory Boards and Consult Meetings and organise national and international educational initiatives
  • Evaluate the outcomes of accredited and non-accredited medical education initiatives through the use of specific metrics demonstrating changes in behaviors
  • Ensure continuous communication with colleagues from Commercial and Medical to validate and ensure optimal and compliant implementation of key educational initiatives on the disease areas and specific therapeutic fields

Major Accountabilities:
For the assigned brand(s):

  • Accountable for the medical content of medical education initiatives, ensuring comprehensive, high quality, scientifically correct and consistent non-promotional and balanced information
  • Accountable for the development, implementation, execution and follow-up of all initiatives falling under MedEd responsibilities (education, AdBoard/Consult meetings, sponsorships, accreditation, speaker training, etc.)
  • Take advantage of new technologies such as iPAD, Webex and live feedback in the development and implementation of educational initiatives
  • Is abreast of Global offerings with the objective of providing Canadian MEs opportunities to attend Standalones, Preceptorships or other educational initiatives
  • Interface with Medical and Commercial functions of assigned brand(s) to develop and ensure optimal implementation of medical education initiatives through ongoing communications and presence at key meetings (NSM, Brand Team, etc.)
  • Collect, analyze and synthesize medical education information, data, insights and competitive information relevant to the assigned brand, and share with relevant internal customers
  • Attend and actively participate in medical congresses in order to ensure the required follow-up in terms of dissemination of new educational material while working with MEs on the development of solid collaborative relationships
  • Provide MedEd monthly report and MedEd quarterly report (4 pillars) with the objective of communicating the content with relevant internal customers
  • Have a thorough understanding of all internal working procedures and external guidelines, including the various accrediting bodies (National and Provincial)
  • Ensure all educational initiatives comply with Canada-NP4, PAAB, Rx&D code and all other internal working procedures
  • Contribute to internal training on MedEd processes and working procedures to support key internal stakeholders
  • Play an active role in product strategic and tactical plans (Medical portion of the IPS) through participation at brand team meetings
  • Take advantage of updates/information sharing of scientific data/material, publications, and alignment of product priorities in the development of educational programs
  • Maintain and develop extensive therapeutic expertise in relevant area(s) including knowledge of competitor product profiles
  • Continuously strive at maximizing knowledge in the field of health education by attending various conferences (ACME, ASTD, etc.) and by completing the CCPE accreditation on Continuing Health Education within 12 months
  • Approach the use of external agencies in a cost-conscious matter, with the objective of identifying synergies with other brands while saving costs
  • Direct responsibility for the assigned brand MedEd budget

Minimum requirements

  • Science degree with relevant experience in pharma environment (Medical or Commercial) with emphasis on training and education
  • Experience: 5 Years +
  • Bilingualism: English and French.
  • Demonstrated positive leadership, innovative and collaborative behaviours and has the ability to lead without authority
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of the guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry, and ensure compliance with these external as well as internal guidelines: NP4, PAAB, R&D code of Marketing (2012)
  • Broad understanding and expertise in CHE, Medical Education, Adult Learning Principles, Accreditation and Evaluations
  • Strong scientific background on assigned brand(s)
  • Deep knowledge of key functions and processes within organization to be able to facilitate development and implementation of cross-functional programs
  • Excellent organizational, planning, resource and project management skills
  • Strong personal integrity, teamwork abilities, and a customer focus are necessary
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of commercial issues
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment and to motivate a team to do the same
