We are currently seeking a junior manager in our decadence and bakery department to join our management team in the Bedford retail location. In this position, you will report to the store operations manager and oversee the daily operation of our decadence and bakery department. You will be responsible for the financial success of this department; ensuring that targets are achieved while not compromising on offering superior products and exceptional customer service for our customers.

  • Fulfill all responsibilities of managing the day to day operation as well as financial accountabilities of the decadence and bakery department
  • Communicating, organizing and implementing processes and procedures while also maintaining financial success in the decadence and bakery department
  • Responsible for cleanliness and presentation in this department in order to enhance the customer experience
  • Provide leadership and a positive work environment for team members; you will ensure that departmental standards of excellent customer service, quality, safety, and efficient procedures are maintained to achieve financial success.
  • Manage the performance of team members through the exchange of formal and informal feedback.
  • Responsible for proactively ordering all products for this department and dealing with all suppliers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Maintain labour ratios within budget by ensuring a high level of productivity of all staff and adjust scheduling to projected business volumes
  • Resolve and properly document problems that arise such as customer complaints, product issues, staffing issues, etc.
  • Ensure the department is well merchandized and is ready for business at all times.
  • Collaborate with the Store Operations Manager, other department leaders and all members of the Pete’s Fine Foods team to foster the success of our store and organization as a whole.
  • Other duties as directed by the Store Operations Manager.


  • 1 – 2 years retail management/supervisory experience
  • This role is a "working manager" position. Must be able to spend the majority of the time on the sales floor while balancing office work.
  • People management skills (communication, motivation, performance management, succession planning, etc.)
  • An in-depth knowledge of inventory management and merchandising
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proven excellence in customer service skills
  • Knowledge of and passion for baked goods and sweets
  • Knowledge/experience in managing the highest level of food safety standards
  • Excellent financial management skills in order to maximize sales and profit margin while managing expenses appropriately.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
  • Basic math skills
  • Flexible Schedule – Must be able to work days, evenings and weekends
  • Availability to lead and participate in month end (Sunday) inventory counts
