About the Work

Reporting directly into the Chief Executive Officer, you will find yourself as the head of the professional services departments. From a day-to-day perspective, this is a job with incredible variety. You will not find yourself producing reports for weeks on end, nor will you find yourself constantly in meetings or caught up in red tape. Rather, this is an opportunity for a Pharmacist who has a desire to advance the profession and help our stores capture innovative opportunities. We are looking for someone who loves variety, enjoys new challenge and digging into the detail.

Your key accountabilities within this role will include:

  • To develop and communicate new business strategies for implementation to increase Pharmacy Services, Rx counts, long term care business, OTC sales, & home health care.
  • To develop & implement strategies to aid stores in recruitment & retention of Pharmacists, Dispensary Assistants and Managers.
  • Visit all Peoples Drug Mart stores and Peoples Pharmacies once per year.
  • Design, create and implement innovative professional programs for the stores and professional departments in the stores to realize the mission of “Helping People Live Better Lives”.
  • Create and submit an annual Professional Services budget for inclusion in the annual budget to be approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Develop relationships, build business development opportunities & negotiate terms with pharmaceutical manufacturers.
  • Regular reporting and communication to key stakeholders
  • Ad-hoc duties as required by the CEO and Board of Directors

Who Will Excel in this Role

This position is best suited for a seasoned Pharmacist who has a keen interest in the profession and has strong interpersonal skills . Our office is known for our social behaviour – we like to play cards at lunch and enjoy treat day on Fridays! As such, you should be someone who is great at what they do but can also have fun and communicate well with the large numbers of people you will meet.

Ideally we are looking for someone who has:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed Pharmacist in BC.
  • A keen eye for detail and an analytical mind
  • Experience in a retail organization
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Good job tenure displayed on your resume
  • Strong business skills and the ability to pick up new software
  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Kroll, Telus Health and WinRx would be an asset.
