Job Summary

Provide EHS service, advice, direction and leadership to project/construction management, site supervision and craft employees including subcontractors to achieve Tracer’s Zero Harm vision; responsible for implementation of Tracer’s EHS management system and requirements at a project.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and implement EHS management system at a project ensuring client EHS and Tracer EHS requirement are complied with
  • Supervise and lead EHS staff, where applicable; assist in recruiting EHS professionals
  • Monitor and audit compliance to EHS management system requirements; recommend corrective action for instances of non-compliance; conduct field visit to work locations
  • Implement and maintain project EHS recordkeeping system including daily, weekly and monthly reports; upon project completion, forward all EHS records to Edmonton EHS department for storage and retention
  • Collect and analyze statistical data and compliance audit result to identify improvement opportunities and initiate action
  • Prepare and submit client required EHS daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Assist in the investigation of all incidents; review all investigation reports to assure causal factors are identified and corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence
  • Maintain the client’s incident reporting and recordkeeping system, when required
  • Conduct hazard assessments and risk analysis
  • Manage and conduct, when required, EHS training including new hire orientation and supervisor leadership expectations
  • Manage and administer the Zero Harm Recognition program
  • Develop and manage the project EHS training matrix, ensure training is delivered and project specific training records are maintained
  • Identify and manage environmental hazards such as noise, toxic agents, waste management, etc. and ensure appropriate actions are taken to control and mitigate potential exposure
  • Implement an Injury management program; manage the workers compensation program; ensure all workers compensation claims are reported to the applicable workers compensation board within 72 hours of becoming aware of a reportable injury; assist in the management of individual claims
  • Ensure all injuries and incidents are reported promptly to Tracer management, client representatives and external agencies, as required

Job Requirements & Skills

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in EHS from a recognized institution and experience in project, construction and/or industrial maintenance fields
  • 5+ years’ experience with increasing responsibilities in a building trades and/or construction work environment if candidate does not have an EHS diploma, certificate or degree
  • Professional designation from a recognized professional safety organization (ACRSP, BCSP)
  • Valid Class 5 Driver License
  • Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral, presentation and written skills
  • Capable of multi-tasking and working to demanding deadlines
  • Able to make decisions and be a self-starter
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • EHS auditing
  • Capable of conducting hazard and risk management assessments
  • Capable of working independently and taking initiative to meet customers need
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with people at all levels within the organization
  • Working knowledge of EHS protocols and processes
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations
  • Knowledge of corporate, job and client EHS policies, rules and standards
  • Working knowledge of EHS management systems
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of Microsoft office

Location: CNRL project site Fort McMurray, AB

Temporary project position anticipated to last until March 2016.

Camp and flights (Edmonton/Calgary) provided. 14/7 shift.
