Position Title: Territory Manager, Corporate

Team and Location: Retail Operations – Greater Toronto Area / North GTA Ontario

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Retail Operations Manager, the Territory Manager is responsible to enhance the retail business and champion operational excellence across the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the performance and development of the territory retailers through successful recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, counseling, and leadership;
  • Champion Parkland’s HS&E programs to ensure all territory sites are working in a safe environment and adhering to local, provincial and federal legislation related to the environment;
  • Maximize volume, gross margin and in-store sales, while controlling operating costs within the assigned territory;
  • Maintain a strong understanding of territory pricing tactics and competitive activities;
  • Support retailers by maintaining a consistent presence in the field at site level;
  • Execute all approved programs including HS&E, promotions, plan-o-grams, administration and compliance;
  • Complete Operational Excellence Evaluations and other compliance evaluations as required;
  • Participate in the development of the annual operating budget by site resulting in an overall territory budget for volume, gross margin, non-petroleum revenues and operating expenses;
  • Monitor territory site level results, and develop/implement action plans as required;
  • Drive the territory day-to-day business by entrepreneurially leading, initiating and managing activities involved in selling fuel and convenience store merchandise and propelling the brand(s) to ensure quality control in daily operations;
  • Complete ad-hoc assignments as directed by the Regional Operations Manager or District Manager, and;
  • Accountable for growing the business.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, finance or general business or equivalent professional experience;
  • 3 plus years’ experience of direct retail experience within a multi-unit business model, preferably in the petroleum and/or convenience store industry;
  • Strong analytical and technical skills including advanced understanding of profit and loss statements, MS Excel and MS Word;
  • Advanced negotiating and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task;
  • Travel will be required – 75% – with overnight stays;
  • Valid driver’s license required, and;
  • Relocation may be required.
