Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis the Business Analyst’s core responsibility is to create and maintain a Corporate strategic planning model to ensure integrity and accuracy of the model. In addition, the Business Analyst will be responsible for preparing monthly and quarterly board presentations for financial results and budget of Parkland Fuel Corporation and provide recommendations to improve and streamline tasks within the area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Strategic planning model (integrate model);

Create and maintain the Corporate Strategic model (financial projections) to ensure accuracy and integrity of the financial information;

Validate requirements from various stakeholders (FP&A, Treasury, Corporate Development, Divisions, etc.) and create Corporate Strategic planning model that supports various needs;

Obtain and validate source data obtained from various stakeholders for the completeness and accuracy;

Build various corporate metrics (dividend payout ratio, debt covenants, etc.) and sensitivity analysis (commodity price, foreign exchange, etc.) as required;

Generate tables and graphs interpreting company data;

Create divisional strategy planning model that is to be used by divisions for their 5-year planning;

Update the Corporate Strategic planning model for actual and forecast financial information and various acquisition assumptions;

Ensure integrity and accuracy of the Corporate Strategic planning model;

Work closely with the Director, FP&A and develop various scenarios as directed by the Senior Leadership Team; and

Prepare presentations for board meetings with internal clients;

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting package (board package, calculations of various monthly KPIs, etc.);

Assist in other ad hoc task and projects as required.

Qualifications and Skills :
Candidates with an MBA, CBV, CPA/CA designation or enrolment in/completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst program is an asset

3-5 years previous work experience in a financial, analytical, corporate development, or M&A capacity in the oil and gas sector is an asset

Strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting and financial modeling, and graphing

Strong analytical and quantitative skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Excellent technology skills (Excel and Power Point)

Above average qualities of leadership, work ethic and motivation

Good business judgment and decision-making skills

Acute attention to details

Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time

Identified candidates will be required to complete a case study as part of the recruitment process
