General Accountability

The Sales Associate works closely with customers to determine their needs, answer their questions about our products and recommend the right solutions. The Sales Associate can promptly resolve customer complaints and ensure maximum client satisfaction. To be successful as a Sales associate, you should stay up-to-date with product features and maintain our store’s visual appearance in high standards.

Ultimately, a top-notch Sales Associate should be able to achieve excellent customer service, while consistently meeting the store’s sales goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary function of the Sales Associate is to serve as the store expert on paint, flooring, window treatments and décor by providing detailed product information to customers.

The Sales Associate can offer colour matching expertise, paint product selection advice and tint and mix paint orders accordingly. Knowledgeable in all areas of flooring, including hardwood, laminate, ceramic, vinyl and carpet, they are able to help customers make choices to complement their project. Within the Window Treatment category, the Sales Associate can assist customers with taking orders and explaining the features and benefits of the various window treatment options.

The Sales Associate is expected to conduct sales activities and build relationships with customers including; promoting and recommending products or installation services that match customer needs, informing customers on pricing, options, or status on pending orders; keeping shelves stocked and correctly displayed; and coordinating successful completion of projects and orders.

This includes performing order management duties such as entering new orders for customers, reaching out to vendors on special orders, tracking and fulfilling orders, and resolving issues.

The Sales Associate is also responsible for providing excellent customer service through the daily execution of Paint Shop’s customer service programs, following up on completed orders to ensure customer satisfaction, and assisting customers as needed in locating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.

The Sales Associate is also required to maintain a safe and secure work environment by complying with company policies and procedures for merchandising, housekeeping, safety, and monitoring for potential theft or security risks.

Lastly, the Sales Associate is responsible for completing all other duties as assigned.

Special Skills, Knowledge, and Education Required

• Proven work experience as a Retail Sales associate, Sales representative or similar role
• Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
• Proficiency in English
• Basic Math skills
• Working knowledge of customer and market dynamics and requirements
• Track record of over-achieving sales quota
• Hands-on experience with POS transactions
• Familiarity with inventory procedures
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills
• A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus
• Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner
• Availability to work flexible shifts
• High school degree; BS degree in Marketing or related field would be a plus
