If you want to help shape the future of health care benefits through technology, we are looking for a permanent, full-time Team Lead to join our Quality Assurance team. This role will be located at our head office in Burnaby, BC.

Job Duties

Team Leadership, Staff Development and Performance Coaching

  • Identifies learning needs in new and seasoned staff members, develops learning initiatives and provides on the job training as required to close knowledge and skill gaps. Ensures all staff members remain current in all in scope software for the purposes of testing.
  • Provides leadership to testing team members to promote motivation and teamwork and to ensure the provision of a skilled workforce.

Department Effectiveness

  • In consultation with the Manager, participates in the review, development, implementation and maintenance of new work methods, procedures, standards and technologies governing department operation and staff deployment. Assesses the impact of policy and procedural changes initiated by other IaTS departments on the testing operation and determines the approach to take to mitigate impacts. Identifies where changes are required in existing testing processes to improve productivity and/or quality.

Information Technology Systems Testing Support

  • On an ongoing basis, and as a working member of the QA Testing team, performs all duties of the Test Analyst by:
    • acting as Test Lead on a variety of formal applications and/or technical systems design projects to identify, organize and coordinate the execution of the system testing phase;
    • providing technical testing services for production fixes and system enhancements to ensure system functionality is consistent with defined business requirements and produces expected results.

Qualifications:

Knowledge:

  • Software testing courses equivalent to:
    • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (29 hours)
    • ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst Level (35 hours)
    • ISTQB Advanced Test Manager (35 hours)
  • Basic Supervision (36 hours)
  • Intermediate/Advanced Supervision (36 hours)
  • An introductory level Project Management Course that covers the project life cycle (18 hours)
  • Business Communications (36 hours)
  • Basic Word
  • Basic Excel

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years previous related experience, including a minimum of 4 years in a test analyst or equivalent position working on medium to large scale projects.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and leading people.
