We are currently recruiting for a temporary, up to 8 month, HR Coordinator to join our Human Resources team here at Pacific Blue Cross.

Job Duties


o Manages the internal and external recruitment cycle for all Union postings:

Sourcing candidates: creating and administering job postings, collecting and tracking applications, communicating with all stakeholders, including Managers, candidates and Union representatives throughout the process;

Screening Candidates: creating and coordinating testing, participating in interviews and coordinating background checks for external candidates as required;

Selecting Candidates: Ensuring all paperwork is administered accurately for a smooth transfer or hire of the successful candidates, including offer letters and new hire packages.

Human Resources Information System Updates

o Processes a variety of entries and adjustments into Pacific Blue Cross’s HRIS, as well as generating reports as required.

Employee Services

o Administration of all bargaining employee leaves, such as maternity/parental leaves, leave of absence requests, terminations, voluntary separation packages, by:

Providing letters regarding leaves;

Answering questions from employees regarding benefits, leave banks, etc.

o Responding to lawyer and ICBC requests regarding motor vehicle accidents for bargaining unit employees.

General Support

o Provides support to the Human Resources Generalist and HR team members on a variety of administrative items.

o Provides support for benefit and pension administration as required.

o Creating reports and seniority list on a quarterly basis.

o Builds and manages effective partnerships with the human resources team, management, union and other stakeholders.


Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, with a specialization in Human Resources, or equivalent.

Certified Human Resources Professional designation an asset.

Minimum 1 year experience as a Human Resources Administrator/Coordinator and/or Recruiter, or equivalent.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong, trusting relationships with all stakeholders.

Exceptional attention to details and accuracy.

Ability to multi-task, analyze and solve complex problems.

Excellent coordination, organizational and analytical skills.

Experience with working in a Unionized Environment is an asset.
