Underwriting Services Coordinator

As a member of our Underwriting and Premium Accounting team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating all plan amendments for group operations, including updating and filing plan design information, contracts and booklets. Updating GADSII, DOCSNET, ODIS and the online benefits website.

  • Confirming member eligibility for all group and retiree plans where technical expertise is required.

  • Initiating third party service requests for administration system updates related to renewal, amendment or plan termination activities.

  • Facilitating the updating of all premium rate information into OTIP systems to ensure that rates are integrated into all related premium processes.

  • Working closely with various departments and insurance carrier partners to resolve product or service problems. This includes evaluating exception claim requests, clarifying complaints, monitoring ongoing member satisfaction levels regarding claims and enrolment eligibility, determining cause, selecting and explaining the best solution, expediting correction, follow-up to ensure resolution, and making recommendations to the underwriting team and management as required.

  • Producing and preparing financial experience reports and client meeting documents for account managers, such as charts, graphs and supporting information for all lines of benefit.

  • Compiling data information for health and dental renewal analysis, preparing premiums, and scheduling and entering information into renewal analysis documents.

  • A college diploma or equivalent insurance related courses.

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in group benefits.

  • Knowledge of life, long term disability, health and dental insurance, contract and benefits provisions.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.

  • Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities and remain calm under pressure.

  • Experience in health and dental underwriting is preferred.
