The Role – Mechanic and Utility Operator – Copper Mountain, B.C.

This role will be responsible for providing utility/mechanical support to the Copper Mountain, B.C. (Princeton) site.

  • Providing maintenance support to the site on a range of mobile and static explosive pumping equipment.
  • Fault finding and repair of prime mover (Majority of Western Star Chassis).
  • Trouble shooting of all Orica explosive pumping and manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist with vehicle audits and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Other tasks as required.

The position will work 7×7 but must be willing to work outside of these hours, if required.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Grade 12 High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of mechanical experience with Detroit Diesel, Mercedes, CAT power plants.
  • Certified Vehicle Inspector is highly preferred (knowledge will be considered a plus).
  • Inter Provincial Red Seal certificate, with a strong background in electrical and hydraulic repair and failure diagnosis.
  • Experience working with progressive cavity and gear pumps is preferred.
  • Valid Class 3 Driver’s license, Class 1 is preferred to operate our heavy equipment for testing purposes.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces (tank inspections training is provided); outside in all types of weather and able to lift and carry 50 lbs on a repetitive basis.
  • Must be willing to travel to train and aid other sites (10% of the time).
  • A strong safety background is a must.
