Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a results driven, analytical professional to join our Corporate Accounting and Reporting team in the role of Junior Financial Analyst for our Downtown Toronto location. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting and Reporting the Junior Financial Analyst will assist in system enhancement, support, analysis and problem solving in regards to the following areas: Operational Support: Monitor/cost collection and reporting, transactional/cost analysis and transactional/cost management support; Maintenance of Existing Systems: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Contract Office Supply Chain, Business Warehouse, Commercial Operations, Nuclear Contractors, and Nuclear Time Reporting; Financial Management Analysis & Reporting; Assist in project and enhancement work planning and control, e.g., project planning, coordinate technical resources with third party IT Service Provider (New Horizon); and Contract/Billing Administration This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to Ontario Power Generation’s continued growth and success in generating safe, clean, reliable low-cost power in a sustainable manner. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Within a project environment, assist in the development and maintenance of procedures and systems, in order to satisfy the financial processing applications and financial systems. Assist in the provision of technical advice and guidance where required; Participate in the development and maintenance of processes related to activities such as financial analysis and reporting, contract administration, operations of processes and cycles e.g. cost collection and billing, business transactional analysis, and system processing etc.; Assist in the development, enhancement and maintenance of systems to support the department’s activities within the Corporation; Assist in the analysis and compilation of data associated with special studies, related to specific Financial Processing or Supply Chain business activities; Participate in projects and initiatives that optimize and re-engineer current business processes including processes within Finance and Supply Chain. Assist in the preparation of recommendations and formal presentation of same to senior management; Provide support to specific applications on a daily basis. Identify training for areas that are related specifically to their deliverables/responsibility; Maintains and supports in-service financial systems; Collect information, review and analyze accounting reporting and practices, provide conclusions to accuracy and consistency; Review monthly/quarterly/year-end financial statements; Provide management reports utilizing financial system and other inputs; Assist the Manager by providing advice and guidance, coordination and service support to Corporate groups in areas related to application of department systems; and Perform other duties as required. EDUCATION University degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting; and Completed “CPA, CA” or “CPA, CMA” designation is an asset, but is not required. EXPERIENCE We are seeking a dynamic, results driven and analytical accounting and finance professional who is looking to grow their career, someone with a background and experience in the following: Minimum 2-3 years of progressive accounting or finance experience; Familiar with financial analysis, controllership and financial systems; Knowledge to support the development of financial strategies, polices, and procedures; Strong analytical skills, experience with financial reporting and management reporting; Sound judgment and critical thinking and creative problem solving abilities; Requires knowledge of technology and systems to participate in development, implementation and monitoring of financial system and internal control processes; Ability to work in a cross-functional environment; Looking for someone who is a quick study, willingness and desire to learn and develop; Superior organizational and time management skills. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail; Sense of urgency and decision making skills in managing priorities and meeting internal and external timelines; Experience and ability to anticipate upcoming needs, adapt to change in order to help conserve time and drive efficiency; Strong interpersonal skills, experience in maintaining productive relationships; Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and communicate effectively across the company and externally at all levels; A results-oriented focus is essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment; Ability to navigate organization and support systems to deliver results; Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook); Experience using large financial and integrated enterprise systems such as SAP would be an asset; Looking for someone with a strong level of confidence who is self-motivated individual that takes initiative and has a strong level of passion and desire to succeed; and Experience and exposure from working in highly rate regulated industries such as utilities, energy, power, mining, or public sector is preferred.
