Position – Employment Worker
Limited 8 week contract. Start date ASAP Position could be extended dependent on Agency staffing compliment.
Reporting to Operations Manager
Hours of Work 9:00-5:00
This is a 35 hour week job, working within a team environment with common goals and outcomes (occasional weekends and evenings).
Salary Dependent on Experience

Summary:
Working within the On-Track Career & Employment Services this position was created to facilitate groups of Youth with an interest in working in skilled trades within the construction sector.
The position requires as self-starter who has a demonstrated history of making a strong connection with Employers. This position requires a unique skill set of working with both business and community.
As an Employment Worker your job is to meet with unemployed or underemployed clients and help them to secure meaningful employment.
The Employment Worker position requires that you maintain a caseload of 150 clients and ensure that you meet every step in their Employment Service Plan. This means that the employment Worker must be comfortable in contacting employers on behalf of their clients.

Core Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively with individuals to establish and develop Employment Service Plan
Interviews clients to obtain employment history, educational background, career goals etc.
Identifies barriers to employment and assist clients to develop job readiness skills and job search strategies
Assess need for additional assistance such as rehabilitation, financial aid and/or further vocational training and makes appropriate referrals
Works with and monitors clients as they progress through their Employment Service Plans
Liaises with job development services, facilitation team, information and resource team, government departments and other social, employment and community agencies on mutual clients as needed to facilitate clients’ progress
Support clients in accessing programs such as literacy training, Second Career, etc.
Follow-up with clients at appropriate intervals to assess progress and record outcomes
Provides one on one coaching and to assist clients in the achievement of their employment or education goals
Counselling Assistance to be provided in the areas of: Job Maintenance, Job Search, Career Decision Making, or other identified employment needs
Administers standardized assessments to determine client interests, aptitudes and abilities
Researches and follows up on any and all employment leads
Assists clients in the use of resources and technology for job search activities on an as needed fill-in
Participates in community activities and job fairs
Networks with community and employment agencies as required
Enters accurate client data into EOIS
Maintains file notes and appropriate documentation about clients’ progress
Completes paperwork required for clients to access training
Writes weekly reports and trends analysis as needed
Other duties as assigned
Relevant Skills/Abilities
Abilities:
Ability to work in a performance based environment with a proven track record of meeting targets and outcomes
Proficiency in MS Office Applications; Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
Experience working with client databases is an asset
Working knowledge of another language would be an asset( Arabic, Urdu, Punjabi, Tagalog)
Ability to work with diverse populations and establish favorable rapport with clients and co-workers is essential
Skills:

Qualifications:
Post-Secondary education in Sales, Customer Service and/or other Business studies.
Demonstrated history of making and exceeding targets
Two to three years’ experience in community or social service environment
Demonstrated ability of making calls to employers.
Knowledge of the Canadian labour market, Canadian workplace practices, job search strategies and techniques
