As a member of the OMERS IT Quality Assurance team, the QA Analyst will participate in the design and implementation of test scenarios, test cases and test scripts for the functional, system and integration testing of Pension Systems, Corporate Systems and Financial Systems applications.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for: • Identify requirements and prepare risk-based test plans by adhering to quality procedures
• Extract test requirements, business requirements and technical design document, and document them in a test management tool by adhering to quality procedures
• Identify and manage data requirements
• Validate and review test coverage against testing requirements (through traceability metrics)
• Contribute to the identification and escalation of gaps within the business requirements and/or technical design documents that could impact testing
• Capture test metrics
• Participate in discussions as part of the defect triage process and prioritization of testing activities
• Participate in quality assurance reviews of functional specifications and design documents, and assess requirements for testability
• Evaluate test results to determine compliance with test plans, established business processes and business requirements
• Provide accurate, professional and detailed status reports that include concerns regarding work responsibilities
• Assist in playing BA and SA role by clarifying and documenting business change requests and test cases in a test management tool by adhering to quality procedures
• Create and execute test plans that will determine optimal application performance according to specifications.
• Execute test cases during structured test execution activities and document results in a test management tool; includes executing regression tests to verify changes applied to address identified defects
• Identify, document and categorize defects encountered during test execution utilizing defect tracking tools
• Automate tests (including functional, load/performance and Mobile) and test data management through tools and automated scripts
• Provide structured exploratory testing services based on application knowledge and specific areas of vulnerability
• Provide QA process and testing support to UAT and business team for projects/activities that may not have direct IT QA testing
• Verify and revise quality assurance standards as needed.
• Ensure that testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify existing or potential issues.
• Collaborate with software/systems personnel in application testing, such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods.
• Make recommendations for improvement of applications to programmers and software developers or engineers.
• Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management.
• Test any new software to ensure integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and technical specifications.
• Analyze formal test results in order to discover and report any defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws.
• Assist in the development of change control processes, practices, and guidelines for new and existing technologies.

To succeed in this role, you: • University degree in the field of computer science or engineering.
• 3-5 years direct hands on experience in the design, development, and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing.
• 3-5 years direct experience as a tester for major application integration and/or major application product release.
• Direct hands-on experience with SQL query, automated testing tools such as Selenium Web Driver, Jmeter and HP LoadRunner
• Strong knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies.
• Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
• Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to exercise independent judgment and take action on it.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Highly self-motivated and directed.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.
• Strong customer service orientation with an ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.

• The following knowledge base/experience would be considered an asset:
• Finance system testing such as Oracle EBS.
• Java development.
• Testing Informatica and ETL.
• Knowledge of pension management.
