Training Specialist – Hospitality
Hourly Wage: $26.02 – $31.03
Olds College is looking for a Training Specialist for the development of digital training assets for the Hospitality industry in the Accommodation sector. This is a one-year term position.
This position will work in partnership with a video production team to develop and script an extensive series of 3-5 minute training videos to be used by hotel and lodging staff. The Training Specialist will develop various training materials and elearning assessments, and ensure that hospitality industry standards are met. As such, the successful candidate will be able to work within existing learning outcomes and translate the information into video scripts. The Training Specialist will have their hand in developing innovative and creative visual training materials including the presentation of curriculum and the application of information through interactive activities and assessments in an online environment. The Training Specialist will work with management, training analysts, education staff, project teams, and subject matter experts to create scripts, curriculum (including assessment items), and training videos. This position will also be responsible to perform quality checks of training videos to measure the effectiveness of training and to ensure learning outcomes have been met.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of management and training in the hospitality and tourism industry. Experience in instructional design/curriculum development is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Training & Development, Human Resources, or related field would be considered an asset. Those candidates with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered.
The Training Specialist must have a passion for innovative educational content and online learning platforms. Due to the nature of the tasks, the successful candidate will also need to be self-motivated to work independently with minimum supervision. Additionally, you will need to be technologically literate in order to communicate and understand digital strategies and elearning platforms. Proficiency in Google Drive-based software is needed. You must be able to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and set and meet deadlines.
