Senior Adviser, Human Resources (Contract)

Oce Display Graphics Systems Inc. , a business group of Oce, a Canon Company, located in Richmond, BC, develops and manufactures cutting edge digital printing solutions for the fast growing wide format visual communications market. Our inkjet printers produce the brilliant colour images you see on billboards, banners and posters, creating a significant impact on the advertising and promotional industry.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Adviser, Human Resources to join our HR team for an 8-month term commencing as soon as possible to take a key role in a major transition project for our business. There is flexibility for the role to also be considered as part-time. The incumbent will provide a wide range of support in a variety of areas including change management, recruitment and employee relations.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience with a global, high-tech manufacturing firm, as well as experience with a range of HR programs including change management. The role will report directly to the Director of Human Resources.

Responsibilities and Duties

As our Senior Adviser, Human Resources you will be responsible for:

Organizational development:

  • Be a member of and add value to designated functional management teams.
  • Initiate, manage and drive change management initiatives that are optimally aligned with the HR strategy, in co-operation with HR expertise.

Talent Management

  • Ensure the workforce is optimally placed and aligned to meet business objectives by working in partnership with management to identify, design and deliver the personnel changes, recruitment and development needs

Employee Relations:

  • Advise, challenge and support management with employee relations matters, including initiating and managing employee engagement initiatives in support of positive employee and workplace experiences.

Projects:

  • Define, plan, lead and execute assigned HR-related projects often affecting and involving multiple functions, applying effective project management skills.

Culture, Values and Diversity:

  • Support managers, employees and HR activities which sustain positive, respectful, safe and environmentally conscious workplace practices.

Management information:

  • Utilize, champion and maintain HRIS systems to develop and provide quantitative and qualitative reporting to inform and enable timely and relevant decisions by management and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 7 plus years of relevant and progressive work experience in a human resource capacity, with at least 3 of these in a multinational company. Previous experience working with a Manufacturing and / or Hi-Tech company advantageous.
  • An Undergraduate or higher degree in related field – Human Resources, Psychology, Business, etc.
  • HR certified advantageous (CPHR, etc.).
  • Excellent organization awareness, business acumen and understanding in order to provide proactive and relevant solutions that speak from personal experience.
  • Experience in advisory role involved with the full spectrum of relevant HR topics (e.g. organizational development, succession planning, recruitment, compensation and benefits, learning & development, performance management and coaching, employee relations and labor law). Payroll processing, approval experience advantageous.
  • Good process, change management and project management skills.
