The Project:
The successful candidate will be working on a data migration project in two phases. The first phase is a data gap analysis that needs to be conducted. The data gap analysis would look at data elements in an existing system and map corresponding elements in a new system with limited documentation. This will require the ability to document and to verify the mapping by data profiling. Running frequency distributions will be a part of it so if they are looking at interest rates, the summary on one side matches the summary on the other side. The candidate will be able to identify, analyze and record any discrepancies. The second phase will consist of participating in User Acceptance Testing to verify that the new data provides results consistent with current state. The candidate will be able to distinguish between material and immaterial differences. The candidate will be able to present findings to management in a professional manner. The candidate will have 5 years of experience. The candidate will be working with the risk reporting senior manager on a day to day basis.

1.) Need to know how to Query a data warehouse using SQL (5 years of experience)
2.) Experience with backwards engineering excel workbooks (5 years of experience)
3.) VBA 5 years of experience
4.) Excellent knowledge of Excel, Access, SQL, VBA, Cognos Impromptu
5.) Risk Management (2-5 years of experience)
6.) Excellent communication and documentation skills
7.) Any experience with the QRM risk modeling framework would be very helpful
8.) The manager would like to see the candidates coming from a financial background with risk management and banking experience

Day to day:
– Reporting heavy
– Project: evaluating data from different data warehouses data mining and comparing across different sources/data warehouses for the purposes of validating
– Assist in regular reporting as part of the core job, but primary focus would
– Major asset – Understanding of personal & commercial finance products – mortgages, GIC, line of credits, some derivatives
– Comparing and analyzing data, but NO modeling

Top skills:
– FI experience – should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of banking product characteristics: mortgages, GICs, loans, securities, swaps
– Understanding of technical requirements, but needs to have the finance background
– Definitely looking for business/finance candidates rather than exclusively technical candidates
– 5+ years of experience in a related position: Business Intelligence Analysis/Data Analysis in a Financial Institution preferred

Support the Balance Sheet Management Group and the Liquidity & Funding Risk Management Group in meeting regulatory and other requirements by providing information as required.
