Function summary

The Accounts Payable Clerk reports to the AP SUPERVISOR and is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services. This includes processing and monitoring payments and expenditures.

Responsibilities and main tasks

  • Review L/Cs, tracks payment status, and communicates with appropriate parties for follow-up actions.
  • Assemble all import order information for L/C creation and payment release.
  • Record payments, liabilities and other vendor information.
  • Maintain updated vendor files
  • Prepare batches and post invoices
  • Perform monthly cut-off testing to ensure all shipments are recorded
  • Maintain records and supporting financial schedules
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial files.
  • Perform other related duties as required

Context of Employment

  • Permanent Position
  • Normal office hours: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday 8:30-17:00
  • Location: St-Laurent
  • Benefit package after 3 months of service
  • 4 paid sick days per calendar year, after 3 months of service
  • 1 paid birthday day, after 1 year of service

Education and Experience

Required:

  • The ability to communicate with vendors in a professional manner; customer service oriented personality
  • Ability to analyze situation and take appropriate actions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Accounting or DEC/DEP
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skill
  • Good knowledge in accounting

Required:

  • Detail oriented with strong follow-through, well organized, able to multi-task, works well under pressure
  • Have sense of urgency in managing time and accomplishing tasks, self-motivated with initiative & proven success with meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrate proactive problem solving
  • Ability to react to change
  • Create and maintain a cooperative team environment

Technical Tools

  • Excellent level in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel(pivot tables, databases, vlookup), Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Momentis, an asset

Language

  • Excellent level of English (written and spoken)
  • Good level of spoken French (written and spoken)
