About Novella: Novella is a visual artvertorial featuring the best of fashion, lifestyle, and art in Toronto. Our magazine is distributed in print twice a year and online at www.novellamag.com with select pieces also featured on our Instagram (@novellamag). Through rigorous curation and eclectic story-telling we connect our audiences with contemporary culture and serve as a baseboard for new designers, artists, culinary geniuses, and models through a spectrum of creative services.

We are looking for a dynamic and highly organized intern to help plan and coordinate an art show for execution later this year.

Key responsibilities:

  • Strategize, plan and develop an art show proposal in collaboration with a large potential client
  • Coordinate and negotiate with artists and sponsors to build event content and clout
  • Research and complete grant applications for event funding
  • Leverage Novella’s social media accounts and creative relationships to generate buzz and build engagement with the brand in the lead up to the art show

Must haves:

  • Post-secondary degree in Arts Administration (recently completed or in progress)
  • Solid knowledge of Toronto’s arts scene, as well as what’s current and trending in the international art world
  • Ability to negotiate with gallery owners and other organizations during the development of the art show
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with artists and galleries to be featured in the art show
  • Experience coordinating art showcases and/or other art-centric events
  • Experience with developing content for grant applications, including writing and editing proposals
  • Excellent communication, research, and event planning skills

Compensation:

  • Media passes to city’s leading art/cultural/fashion events (as available)
  • Solid art industry experience and potential for part-time opportunities based on the completion of a successful internship

This will be a two-month internship with an anticipated start of early May 2017
