Novacap is currently seeking to grow its finance team with a dynamic and proactive professional. A serious candidate must have experience at working within a team. Novacap’s current and future growth has made necessary the creation of this new position in the organization. The chosen candidate will then be able to grow the position and create value with his or her contribution.
Novacap’s finance team is currently responsible for ongoing management of five active investment funds and is involved with close to thirty portfolio companies. The candidate must be organized, details oriented, demonstrate excellent written and spoken communication skills, and motivated while driven to contribute in its team’s efforts to achieve deadlines and objectives.

The candidate will be in charge of the following elements:

Reporting

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for external users;
  • Prepare and manage year end audits of six investment funds, both active and inactive;
  • Manage ongoing communications with Limited Partners and other various external parties;
  • Prepare recurring US compliance requirements;
  • Other ongoing required reporting;

Treasury

  • Prepare deposits and bank reconciliations within the accounting and banking system;
  • Prepare payments, transfers, checks and journal entries related to the bank;
  • Monitor daily cash flow and credit facilities;
  • Manage currency transactions;

Taxation

  • Prepare and review annual tax declarations for Canadian partnerships, International partnerships, US entities, and more;
  • Manage ongoing mandates with tax consultants;
  • Prepare any required tax compliance requirements from Canadian and US perspectives;

Accounting

  • Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable posting, ongoing tracking and collection, as well as other balance sheet accounts;
  • Prepare capital calls and remittance payments to Limited Partners;
  • Prepare month end closing and reporting, including intercompany transactions, etc.;
  • Prepare and investigate variances and other financial analysis;
  • Prepare other presentations and reports for internal and external use; and,
  • Any other related tasks.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Two to five years of relevant experience (Audit, financial reporting or other);
  • CPA, CA or any equivalent experience is essential;
  • Good understanding of Accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE) is considered an asset;
  • Experience with the software SAGE is considered an asset;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Power Point is required;
  • Strong analytical skills and abilities in preparing financial analysis;
  • Being able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is required;
  • Organizational skills, time management and relevant competencies; and,
  • Excellent knowledge of French and English in writing and speaking.
