Responsibilities
Reporting to the Nurse Manager the Licensed Practical Nurse practices as a team member and works to full scope of practice, independently providing nursing care to individuals with stable health conditions and predictable health outcomes, and consulting and practicing with other healthcare professionals when caring for individuals with unstable conditions and/or unpredictable health outcomes. The Licensed Practical Nurse is one of the collaborators in the Collaborative Care Model, participating in the provision of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families and groups. The Licensed Practical Nurse applies practical nursing theory in the assessment of patients, collaboration in the development and implementation of the care plan and ongoing evaluation of the patient.

The duties of the Licensed Practical Nurse will be carried out in accordance with the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health Authority.

Qualifications:

Currently registered with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses
Current CPR certification
Current Code Management
1 year recent nursing experience relevant to the above specified unit
Must be at full scope of LPN practice
LPN Operating Room shared competencies required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families,
Other health care providers and staff, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and warmth
Ability to organize, prioritize, supervise patient/resident care and be accountable for decisions
Basic computer skills- Meditech an asset
Physical and mental capabilities necessary in the position such as fine motor dexterity, duties that involve lifting,
Bending and stretching and adjust to varying work loads
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Capable of maintaining regular attendance
Has completed the Perioperative LPN program provided by RNPDC

The duties of the Licensed Practical Nurse will be carried out in accordance with the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health Authority.

Salary

$23.5919 – $26.2241 hourly
